The Office of the Controller of Examinations was established following the conferment of autonomous status to the college in 1981. The office is responsible for planning, conducting and monitoring all End Semester Examinations, valuation of answer scripts and publication of results while maintaining integrity, confidentiality, transparency and accountability.
The college possesses the necessary infrastructure and expertise for conducting examinations efficiently. It is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai.
The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) grading pattern has been followed since the academic year 2005–2006. The office publishes the consolidated marks of Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and End Semester Examinations every semester. Dummy numbers are used during valuation to ensure confidentiality. Results are normally published within 15 days from the last examination.
The college follows the semester system. Each academic year consists of two semesters and each semester comprises 90 working days followed by End Semester Examinations.
Students representing the college in NCC, NSS or Sports during CIA tests, or those absent for genuine reasons, may be permitted to take a retest after approval from the Principal. Retests are not permitted for any other reason.
Students who have passed a paper in the first attempt may reappear in the immediately succeeding End Semester Examination to improve their marks (except final semester papers). The higher marks alone will be considered for classification. Improvement does not affect ranking.
Students may appear for arrear papers in subsequent examinations.
UG and PG students may apply for Re-totalling, Revaluation and Rechecking according to the prescribed rules.
Semester examination fee notifications will be issued every semester. Students may pay with fine after the due date. Examination fees once paid are non-refundable. No fee is collected for internal examinations.
